Client Stories

“Before starting this work, I consistently found myself in work settings where I would lose my sense of self and work 24/7, be very “accomplished” but underneath it all I was not happy. I felt completely lost; I would lie in bed for hours, had awful anxiety, and had difficulty connecting and communicating in a healthy way with my partner. I was indecisive, would chronically over-think. I felt lost in a vicious cycle, trapped, and didn’t know how to “get out.” I felt disconnected and perpetually sad, that something was missing, and I just couldn’t put my finger on it.

After working with Carly, I have learned the power of the felt sense in my body. By tuning into physical sensations, I am more easily able to name how I’m feeling deep down, let the emotions come to the surface and feel them, and then name and work through them. This process has helped me “put a finger on it.” The biggest change I’ve experienced is a greater sense of calm in my life, both physically and mentally. I find myself more empowered overall, with a toolkit to sense into myself and be more decisive about taking actions that are in line with my authentic self. I have also discovered that choice, my own choice, is empowering and clarifying when it connects to what I’m feeling inward. I am proud of my compassion, my progress, my empathy, my achievements. Proud of myself for choosing to slow down in this next chapter, and for giving myself the space to do it.”

“Carly helps me think intentionally about the work I’m doing, versus just talking about my emotions. She is able to effectively guide me through what I’m feeling, name it, and separate it from myself to be able to see things clearly. This has been instrumental to my progress so far. She always brings great compassion and a sense of humor to her work. She has made an incredible impact on my life to date.”

Big ten athletic coach

“I am simply obsessed with your work. I can't overstate it. You're a gem and everyone on our staff agrees. I just love how you are able to connect, conjure a safe space (even on zoom!), and give our athletes real tools to thrive. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

Cancer Survivor

“Practicing mindfulness with Carly changed my life and gave me tools to cope with the anxiety and restlessness I experienced after my treatment for cancer.  I use the skills I learned every day and would highly recommend this course to anyone wanting to learn to cope with the stress from any personal challenge.”

Athlete

“This work has allowed me to take charge of my own healing. I no longer feel helpless and on the sidelines of life.”

Business Professional

“The most valuable aspect of this work is that I have been able to look at myself and my situation objectively. This analysis has allowed me to regain my inner strength that I had misplaced somewhere along the way of life’s path.”

Father & Veteran

“I would definitely recommend this course for other veterans. It has helped me. Some of it happened subconsciously. I think because my daughter noticed a change in me before I did. I’m calmer and more tolerant of different situations. I find myself using the techniques often. I let people be who they are without letting their negativism affect me. I feel it will be beneficial for veterans to develop these coping skills.”

Business Professional

“I would definitely recommend this group to others because psychotropic drugs are the usual first approach to treating mental health, when that can sometimes be counter productive. A lot of us need a listening ear and a place to let out a lot of pent up emotions. What needs to come out is ourselves. This mindfulness simply breaks the chain that binds.”

Mindfulness-Based instruction

“Carly is great at setting a calm mood, maintaining respect for everyone, and keeping everyone involved, without being pushy or probing. She has great balance and focus, and never gets off subject or loses the theme, regardless of the questions. Also, she ties and relates all of the questions and discussion back to her central theme.”

“Carly’s strengths are that she cares genuinely for people. She’s able to get veterans to trust and to open up. Her training is easily applied in group settings and in one-on-one sessions.”

“Carly knows how to engage with people. She puts people in a comfort zone that propels them.”
